Bones got his teefers done this evening! I've never had one of my horses teeth done, it was cool to watch! The dentist was a very nice younger lady. She said Bones most likely has never had his teeth floated. Because of his chipped front right tooth the bottom tooth directly below it grew up in the empty space and made him have "lock jaw". I guess basically he couldn't chew in a circular motion. Additionally, that caused him to have a pretty bad "ramp" on the right side. He had a ramp on the left side also but, not as bad. He did over all pretty darn good! The only thing he had trouble standing for was the right side aka the super ouchy painful side! But, he quickly decided she was helping him and relaxed for that, too. He was not sedated and she used manual tools. He is going to need his teeth checked at least once a year if not more frequent because of the chipped tooth. She said he will gain weight a lot faster now and that soon I'll have to cut back his grain! Saaaweeeet!!! So, my horse is out of pain, I don't have to soak his grain anymore, AND I get to cut down my feed bill! All this for $55, what a deal. =D
I didn't take any pics, I was to interested in what was going on to think of it but, here is a recent body shot for your viewing pleasure. ; )
I'll take some pics tomorrow so I can compare them to him in a month or so for his weight gain.
Okay, I through in some head shots too. =)
