Bones has been lame since Saturday. I waited until Monday to call the vet, I told her what was going on (limping, a bit of swelling, and heat) ans she told me it was an abscess. She said to soak it in epsom salt. I did that twice (once that evening, once the next morning) and called the farrier out the next day to "drain" it. He said there was no abscess. As of this morning Bones is still limping on the front left, and his back left is still swollen, I didn't check for heat (I was in a rush and forgot). Farrier said it could be just a bruise and to wait it out. My plan is to wait until tomorrow, if he is still limping and swollen I'm calling the vet out. He is out on pasture 24/7, I stalled him on night and he seemed more ouchy and swollen. These are the times I wish horses could talk!

If he was more lame/swollen when stalled, I would put out plenty of hay in a few different piles for him in a smaller paddock or pasture (even a round pen would work). This way he isn't over active and has something to keep him preoccupied. He may become more stressed when locked in his stall for hours. (My mare is ok in a stall for about 2 hours and then starts pacing..)
