Imagine my surprise when I took a pregnancy test and I was pregnant.
Imagine my surprise when I got an ultrasound the next day, and I was 26 weeks pregnant.
WHAT!
I have no idea what this means for my horses. It would be different if I had a solid, easy going mount. But, I have a two year old that is obviously not broke. And a broke horse, who has nasty ground manners.
I wish I had more time to figure this out..

That is one big surprise..
ReplyDeleteGive yourself some time to process it all. It will all work out :)
ReplyDeleteVirtually the same kind of "surprise" pregnancy happened to me... My kid's almost 6 months old now. Here's what I learned along the way, it may help, it may not...You're not really fragile. Make good smart choices while with your horses, and you can go on business as usual. You can still stack hay, scrub water tanks, pick up manure, clean stalls, handle your horses, and ride. I had to stop riding at about 6 months because my son was way down in my pelvis and riding hurt my back after only a few minutes in the saddle. Now I only rode my "good" horse, but I handled everyone on the ground. I know people who've ridden and worked cows until the week before they gave birth. Basically my Dr. told me that if I was doing it before, keep doing it, don't stop doing it until your body says it can't. Stay alert to your needs, both physical and and mental. I was also considered a high risk pregnancy because I was.... 38 when I got preggo...and on oral b.c.... My horses are no worse for wear having time off... Honestly, by the time I'm back in the saddle, it will be 10 months for them... I'm really excited to get going again!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! And don't make any hasty decisions, let it soak in and then make a plan!!
