Hmm, where to start?
Well, Arty needs the chiropractor. He was very off the day after our second trail ride, and has been slightly off since. His back makes a "pop" at a certain point when you run your hand down the side of his spine. So, the chiro is coming out on the 12th.
It's just so frustrating. I've ridden this horse twice since I "got" him. Not by choice, but because he has been lame or off or whatever the hell you want to call it. Natalie, the barn owner, said that I have no obligation to take him if he isn't sound. I like him, and want to give him a chance.. but, what if the chiro doesn't fix it? Or what if he needs to be seen by the chiro often.. I don't have the money for all of that. I know that can come with any horse. But, in Arty's situation I don't have to go through with it. I don't know if I've explained it on here yet, but they got him for free in November. He has been on the back burner since. They rode him 5-6 times before I got him. So, if he does have a problem and it was going on then, they didn't see it. Blah, I don't know!
Anyways, yesterday I decided to take Bones out on the trail alone. He was doing great. Then, we were cantering on the side of a corn field (with woods right next to it) and 5 deer popped out. Bones was scared shitless, hopped sideways, started to gallop, dumped me, and continued to gallop away. I'm fine.. but I was freaking terrified that something would happen and he would get hurt. There were so many different ways he could have gone, I didn't know what to do. I had to call Alisha, the barn owners daughter, and tell her what was going on. Natalie and her came on four wheelers. Alisha caught Bones by his field munching on grass (THANK GOD!) and Natalie came down the hill to get me. What a freaking brat! So much for a "faithful friend". He just left me high and dry! Grrrr stupid pony.
Today Natalie, Alisha, Kim (barn owners sister), and I went on a nice trail ride. I rode Bones, and they all rode horses that haven't been ridden in a while. One horse, Tex, acted like a jack ass most of the way, but the other two did okay. Bones did great.. which he *usually* does. We crossed the stream several times. At first, they all leaped over it. After that the other horses just walked through.. Bones still leaped. Lol
Well, here are some pictures. Enjoy!
