What an unfaithful, bratty, chicken shit of a horse I have.
He dumped me and ran off AGAIN!
Okay, I understand why he ran off last time; there were deer popping around and he was scared. But!, this time? No deer. No animal of any sort. A rock. Mhmmm a ROCK! We were riding along the trail (we were with people this time, but everyone kind of split up?) it was a fairly wide path, I saw the rock, figured Bones saw it, and just went along. Mind you, this wasn't some big scary rock.. MAYBE 2 feet around (by the way, he's seen this rock at least 3 times before). Right as he is stepping over it, he looks down, jumps straight into the air and then sideways. I come off. He stands there for a split second. I get up, reach for the reins, and he jets off. I'm pissed this time. Like I said, last time he did this.. I get it, there were deer jumping around and yeah.. that could be scary. BUT A ROCK!? The rock wasn't jumping at him, it wasn't trying to eat him (well, maybe he thought it was). We weren't far from the barn and I knew he was going to go straight to the pasture a couple of horses were in so I didn't get worried. I was soooo upset and mad. When I got up to the pasture he was standing there and Quay (a guy who works at the farm) was walking up to Bones to catch him. He ran off a little bit more then I caught him and got back on him.
I was just so freaking pissed at him! I don't get it.. I've NEVER EVER even heard of a horse running off when you fall off. They usually just stand there like "uhh whatcha doin?".
Anyways, I rode him around a little bit more then took him back to the barn and round-penned the pants off of him until he submitted. I put him on the hot walker to cool him down, walked him to his field, gave him a kiss and put him away.
Stupid pony face.
>O
There is a new baby at the farm. Out of a mare that Angie and Quay got for free, not knowing she was pregnant. The previous owners didn't even know. Apparently they had her out in a field as a 2 year old (she's now 3) with a yearling stud colt. The previous owners didn't even believe that she was prego when Angie told them, but low and behold a baby pops out 3 days after she came to the farm! He is just a doll baby. Great cowy bloodlines. They're going to register him as "Call Me Rude Boy" and call him Rudy. He is one BRAVE little colt!
The day Rudy was born
Yesterday, their first time in the round pen
Aren't they both just so stinkin' cute!
Here are some pictures from the trail ride. It was Haylee's, Angie's daughter, 10th birthday. Bones, among other horses, was acting like a jack ass most of the trail ride. He was being so hot. I have a feeling that he is going to rear soon. He never has before, but I just have this feeling he will. Gahhh, I don't even want to say that!

Haylee and Mocci. So cute!

Bones' face!
Okay, that's all for now! =)

That sucks that you got dumped. I've had horses that would dump me like that when I was a teen and run for the barn. You better believe I rode their little butts off after that. Sounds like Bones knows he can get you off and get back to the barn to his buddy's. If it were my horse I would carry a dressage whip with me and give him a little love tap if you feel him getting wound up over obstacles he has already been around... Horses (especially Arabians!) are smart and know how to get out of work! lol
ReplyDeleteRepeat after me... "My horse is only afraid of two things. Things that move. Things that don't move." lol ;)
ReplyDeleteLol! Verrry true!
