Bones is still dropping a good amount of grain, even after he had his teeth done. Is this normal? The dentist said that the results will be immediate. I have been working on lunging George for the last few days and haven't really done to much with Bones other than a little bit of lunging. I think I'll ride him tonight. I wouldn't be too worried about your horse dropping feed if you've had his teeth floated. I just had my mares teeth checked when I had her palpitated and they were perfect! lol (except the front teeth) She drops her feed all the time and I would have put $$ on it that she needed floated. She is just a messy girl I guess.
ReplyDeleteAs for his conformation, its kinda hard for me to tell. His throat latch looks clean and I think once his neck beefs up a little and he puts on weight it will tie in nicely to his shoulders. In some pictures he looks like his shoulder is a little on the straight side but in some pictures it looks good. He has a nice short back with a long underline. He has a really nice long hip line from his hip to his hocks which I like, hocks are a little high but he looks like he has nice pasturns. I really like him. Of course Im used to evaluating horses built for barrel racing too so... What are your plans for him by the way?
I really don't know what my plan for him is. I've only ever trail ridden but, would love to get into something else. I've always be interested in barrels. I've done pole bending before and loved it. Jumping is also something I want to get into. My other horse, George, doesn't have much potential past the trail so, I hope Bones is up for some long term training in many different disciplines!
ReplyDeleteI actually found a horse on www.lastchancecorral.org (her name is Lexie in Lingerie) that I would just love to have. She would be wonderful for what I am wanting to do. Unfortunately, until the guy leasing George buys him I can't buy anything else. I don't have the money or time for 3 horses.
