..well that was a nice "thought"

Hm.. so as it turns out, I won't be getting Luhuka.. I won't be getting another horse at all (right now).
I lost my job this weekend (hired as seasonal, when "seasonal" was up, they offered me a job in a city way far away so I declined) and it obviously wouldn't be smart to purchase another horse until I have a new job.

I signed a 6 month contract (5 months left) with the barn that I moved Kazi. Since Kazi is sold, I have to fill that stall with another horse.. was hoping it would be my new TB. No job=no new TB. Sooo, that means BonesFace has to be moved to the new barn to fulfill the contract. Which quite frankly, BLOWS! Things have been going really well at MMS, and I just DON'T WANT TO MOVE HIM!!! This jeopardizes the lease with Mai, she's agreed to do a 1 month trial to see if she likes the barn and if the distance will work for her.. but I'm doubtful it will work. Blah.

In other Bonesy related news, he got a cut on his left gaskin last Friday or Saturday (little over a week ago) that isn't healing too great. It was pretty swollen and hot for the first few days. I had the vet out on Wednesday because the wound had some gross yellow discharge. Up until then I had been cold hosing it 1-2 times a day, applying Furazone after cold hosing, hand walking 10-15 min./day (in addition to his 24/7 turnout) and the BO was giving bute (I'm not exactly sure on how much/how often). My vet watched him trot a little bit and noted slight soreness on the LH. She flushed the wound with iodine, and left it otherwise un-medicated and un-wrapped. She said at this point cold hosing isn't necessary and to stop using the Furazone. She put him on antibiotics for 5 days, and bute 1x/day. Hand walking is good, to get him to use the leg more.

The swelling and heat has gone down considerably (with bute! tomorrow will be the first day without bute), but I just don't know about how the cut is healing. There is a lot of yellow discharge, and today it's looking a little bit like proud flesh. I'm going to see how it's doing early tomorrow and call the vet from there. He is scheduled to be moved tomorrow evening but, I'll wait if the vet suggest doing so.

If I move him tomorrow or not, that boy is getting a bath! His mane and forelock are NASTY! It looks like someone rubbed oil in his mane and he went and rolled in mud. It's just gross. Lol Mai and Natalie (BO) also clipped his bridle path like half of the way and decided to let the other half grow out. Ummmm no.. lol. It looks ridiculous! I'm clipping the rest tomorrow, for sure. I'll take a pic before I do.. it's ooogly!

No new pictures.. so here is a favorite of mine!
