Riding, riding, riding. Cold, cold, cold!

I've been riding Bones quite a bit since Kazi has been in the lease. We've done mostly arena work (well, what we can in the very small space we have to ride in), and have been out on the trails a few times. Last Thursday I was planning on taking him out on the trail, but a couple of things interrupted those plans!

After I saddled up Bones and put him in the arena while I went to get my helmet (and to pee), I saw a loose horse. I recognized him from one of the neighbors houses. I grabbed some grain, Kazi's halter, and a lead rope. The horse wasn't hard to catch at all, he came right to me with the shake of the grain can. I walked him home, and headed back to the barn. That whole process took about 40 minutes. When I got back to the barn, Bones was patiently waiting for me in the arena.

I put on my helmet, mounted, and warmed Bones up in the arena for about 5 minutes. We left the barn and traveled up the big hill that leads to trails. We got to the top of the hill and were about to go down the other side, but there were 6-7 deer at the bottom of the hill. Bones saw them, and didn't seem to phased.. but I just didn't want to deal with him spooking. I decided to do some "arena work" at a level spot on top of the hill for 30-40 minutes. It was actually quite fun and it seemed to really relax him.

On Saturday Danielle (the girl who is leasing Kazi) and I took a ride so I could show her the trails. It was about 4:30pm when we left, so it was already starting to get dark. We ended up doing half of the ride in the dark. And let me tell you, I am very pleasantly surprised at how well Kazi and Bones did (especially Bones!)

This is Danielle's saddle. Isn't it gorgeous! Jealllllous! lol

We haven't rode in the past two days, it's been damn cold! It's been in the low teens and single digits the past couple of days. I ordered Kazi a blanket (Bones still has his from last year) late last week and it got here today! Fast shipping, yay! It fits him pretty well.. it's an 81", but I think an 80" would fit perfect. Instead of riding today, I decided to go outside and take some pictures of the horses! I wish these didn't turn out so effing blurry.. they would have been so pretty!
