Quick update

Sorry for the extended absence. I've been computer-less for a while.

Just a quick update..

Bones came back from the 30 day trial. He didn't pass the flexion test. He's been back for about 3 weeks, and is leaving for another trial this evening. This will be for an offsite lease with two 20-soemthing girls . They're pretty excited, so I hope it's a good fit.

I've been riding Bones a fair bit since he has been back, and have reeeally enjoyed the time with him. We've had some very nice trail rides. And one not-so-great trail ride, in which I fell off. Boo!

Last time I updated, Ginger was beginning full work. Shortly after that update I started to notice several issues with her legs. Then, an abscess was found and she has been laid up since. I've been keeping her in a paddock by herself to work through the abscess. She has bee looking and feeling a lot better, so a couple of days ago I turned her back out in the big pasture with the mares. She was VERY happy to be back with the herd. Too bad the boss mare didn't like Ginger near the hay, so boss mare nailed her in the gaskin. Leaving a lovely hoof print.. and a newly sore Ginger!
Ginger has been in heat twice in the past like.. 3 weeks. She's gross. But, fortunately, she becomes an extremely sweet and affectionate love-bug when she is in heat.

Miss Ollie has had her ups and downs. Lots of good trail rides, some nice arena work (she's neck reining pretty darn well now!), and one or two awful rides. One awful ride was when my friend Ryan rode her bareback.. when he hopped on Ollie almost immediately reared and he fell off. Luckily, he does a lot of rodeos and such so it didn't really phase him. Ollie was in a new bit (similar to a Tom Thumb.. but not quite the same. The shanks are really short and the mouthpiece is loose on the shanks) and I don't think she liked it very well. I rode her in it a few times prior to this ride. But, Ryan kept holding the reins tight and I had to keep reminding him to give her a loose rein. Anyways, she reared a few more times that ride.. but it ended on a good note. It actually kind of pissed me off, because she is NOT ALLOWED to rear undersaddle (duh). She hasn't done it since, so we will just move forward.

Another not-so-great ride was when I fell off! 7 damn days before I fell off Bones!! The fall off Ollie was much harder than on Bones.. and I wasn't wearing a helmet. =O I'll never make that mistake again!
