Trail ride, and a possible trade

Yesterday was gorgeous! Sunny and 75 degrees, niiiice!
I had to feed the horses at the barn so I got there early, around 7am. After I was done feeding I raked the sides of the indoor arena, watered the arena, and dragged both of the indoor and outdoor arenas. By that time it was starting to get warm out, so I took the four wheeler out to catch Bones and Kazi. First I got Kazi, looped the lead rope around the back rack of the four wheeler and headed up to the barn. I tossed him in the round pen, grabbed Bones' halter and went back out to the pasture. I've led Kazi from the four wheeler a few times before, so I knew that we wouldn't have any issues with it. This was the first time I tried it with Bones, so I was a bit skeptical. I got him out of the pasture, and let him sniff the four wheeler before I turned it on. He was fine with it, so I turned on and let him get used to being so close to the sound. He snorted a couple of times, danced a little, but was okay overall. I looped the rope around the rack, got on the four wheeler, and started off slowly. He followed right along without pulling once. I excelled to about 10mph so Bones was doing a nice little trot. He behaved like the perfect pony he is, the whole way to the barn.

Anywho, I groomed and saddled up Bones and rode in the arena for a few minutes. It was so super nice out, I decided it would be a good day for our first trail ride since being back at MMS. We trotted and cantered maybe a total of a third of the ride. Bones acted so good, only did a couple of small spooks. We even came across three kids and a goat(YES! a goat..?) and he barely spooked. After a little over an hour, we got back to the barn and untacked. He was a bit sweaty and warm so I opted to hose him off. I gave him a couple of kisses and treats, and left him in the wash bay to dry off.

I got Kazi out of the round pen and tacked him up. Joni, who owns Airborne (a Connemara/Percheron/Dutch Warmblood gelding), is a fellow boarder and co-worker. We made a date for yesterday to meet at the barn and go on a trail ride. Joni only had ridden on the trails once before, so I showed her around a bit. Kazi spooked a a gazillion things and would either walk super slow, or super fast. He was annoying the crap out of me, but I had to keep reminding myself how little trail miles he has. Overall it wasn't too bad of a ride. I hosed him off as well, then turned them both back out into their pasture.

Today was another beautiful day, but I had to clean stalls and after cleaning 20+ stalls you're usually not in the mood to ride. Lol

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I'm talking to someone about possibly trading Kazi for a Percheron mare. I'll ad more details later!

Happy trails everyone!
