Introducing

Elly Evering Melrose. Born 06/12/14 at 3:32pm via emergency c section. She weighed 7lb 14oz and 21 inches long. Absolutely perfect in every way. 

The short version of why the c section happened is that the cord was wrapped around her neck and tightening with every contraction. Her heart rate dropped to 60bpm. She came out not so well, her only vital was a faint pulse in the umbilical cord. Her first apgar was 2/9. She quickly came around and her second apgar score was 8/9, only 2-3 minutes later. 

I had to be put under for the c section, so I unfortunately didn't get to meet her for about 2 hrs after she was born. 

Right after being placed on my chest, she rooted and latched on. She's been a perfect eater since. 

My recovery is going great. Hopefully I'll be on a horse soon. ;)
