Nona

sorry about no caps.. phone is being dumb.

so i need to post more details about nona. as i said before, she is a five year old belgian paint cross. she came from a small rescue. she was an owner surrender, she was never abused.

sidenote.. i am now living and working at a dressage barn. it is so awesome. great people, amazing trainer, and some super nice horses. i basically get free training and lessons, which is awesome.

anyways.. when nona came our first four or five rides were pretty bad. lots of rearing, kicking out, and crow hopping. my trainer got on her and worked through a lot of her objections. the mare is a decent size, and clearly had gotten away with a bunch of bs. and honestly, when she offered to rear she did intimidate me.. and she knew it. i didnt let her totally get awa with it, but i would back down when i really should have pushed her. but, that is what trainers are for! lol

since the first ride with my trainer, nona has been really great. she is super smart and really tries to figure out what you are asking her to do. i like her a lot, and so does my trainer.

we had the best ride thus far today. i have been working on unlocking her shoulders and get them swinging. she is also to the point she is starting to stretch into the contact, which is big. at first we had to plow rein, had to be careful with the right rein because she was, still is somewhat, so stuck in her right shoulder.
